The Secret History is definitely among the best novels I've ever read. It took me on a wonderful journey in this beautiful world of dark academia, filled with interesting characters and tense moments. Despite this being my first slow-paced read, it never felt quite foreign to me. Sure, it took me about 70-80 pages to get acclimated to the writing style, but it was definitely worth it and then some. Even during those first 80 pages, I was never bored since the characters were all so intriguing and I was hooked until the very last line. Book 1 is a very slow-paced world and characters of The Secret History, which matches perfectly with the slow brewing tension among them. Book 2, on the other hand, is a fast-paced conclusion that suits the brisk unfolding of events that occurs after Bunny's death. The writing, during both, is marvelous, which combined with the gut-wrenching story made for one of the most complete experiences that left me devastated.
