I adore Nesta and Cassian, both as individuals and their relationship together. Now that I've read this book I can't believe I ever hated Nesta. She turned out to be one of the most relatable characters ever for me and she's just amazing. I loved seeing her grow throughout this book and being there every step of her way. Getting a look inside her mind and finally understanding this complicated, harsh woman who turned out to be so different from how she started in a court of thorns and roses. Her relationship with Emerie and Gwyn is amazing, and those three together are by far the most badass characters in the whole series. The ending had the usual plottwists and emotional pain you can expect from Sarah J. Maas, and it was just again so well written. I can't even begin to describe how much I love the relationship between Nesta and Cassian, and how it evolved into something so strong and beautiful. Learning more about Cassian in this book quickly put him high on the list of favorite characters, and together with Nesta and her story I think this book is just absolute perfection.

I shouldn't be surprised but this book definitely trumps all the other acotar books. It's like Sarah reached into my soul and wrote what I need to read. Nesta is my girly, I am her, she is me. This is still a beautiful story like nothing else I've ever encountered. ~~could have done without the scenes that had Rhys and Feyre in them but oh well, can't have everything~~. After my reread I'm still good with Azriel, that's a surprise. Rhys in this book is horrible and Feyre's pregnancy gave me a huuuuge ick but even this falls into nothing next to the perfection that is the rest of this book. So many hints and pieces of important information are in here that I didn't catch the first time around, so I've got lots of tabs in here that have made me scream Sarah's name. I apparantly remembered surprisingly little about the end of this book because part 3 and 4 really caught me off guard sometimes, which was fun. It's still acotar, so I still wanted to smack some bitches (that scene where Cassian for the first time 'uses his courtier voice' made me wanna scream. He's not cool, or badass, he was just being a big old meanie. I swear to god the Cadre would eat all these men alive) BUT this is definitely a favorite of mine, I story I will treasure forever. The most amazing group of characters, with all such a layered personality and difficult past and to see them together, dreaming and loving, was so beautiful. The setting is also amazing. I thought I loved the spring court, but this was a whole other level. The relationships between all the characters are so beautifully written. I loved every second of this book, and then towards the end came the plot twists and everything as also seen in book one and they had me mind-blown. It was so heart wrenching painful, but in the best way possible. These characters have come to mean a great deal to me and I can't wait to read the next book.

I hate to say this, but I liked the book a great deal less the second time around. My dislike for Rhys has gotten less though, so that's good! I admit that even I swooned over him at moments. What got me out of that real quick every time was the talk about him being the most powerful high lord, and talk about his court and how he rules it. I'm of the opinion he is a horrible ruler and if he's so powerful he might wanna get off that lazy ass of his and do something for once. Also disliked Feyre at times but eh what else is new. She was more than fine for most of the book, but I just can't handle the way she talks about Tamlin. The way she's so delusional when comparing both of them. Tamlin truly deserves so much more. I also didn't remember liking the night court aesthetic as much as I did this time around. I still can't choose between Spring or Night, but I'd clearly forgotten how wonderful the night court can be.
Also, that scene where Rhys and Cassian fight? When Rhys is going crazy because of the mating bond? That has ruined this whole book for me. I am scarred. Why in the world do we let men act like that and get away with it? Possessive piece of shit. Rowan Whitethorn would never. That's all I kept thinking when Rhys acted up: Rowan Whitethorn would never.
Good scenes: Feyre going after Rhys when he's captured, and she's winnowing through the trees and stuff. I loved that. Also, her defending the Rainbow. (But then Rhys came for her, wanting her gone from the fight. Just as moments before Cassian was pushing her towards the town house to hide. Oh but when Tamlin does it it's horrible but when it's Rhys or Cass trying to control you it's suddenly a-okay? No. Just stop it. ...more "
