This book definitely lived up to it's expectations and more. It wasn't what I thought it would be, more like a pleasant surprise that was a bit odd. It was a world in it's own, very thoroughly detailed, and cleverly thought. There was a lot 4.5 stars

This book definitely lived up to it's expectations and more. It wasn't what I thought it would be, more like a pleasant surprise that was a bit odd. It was a world in it's own, very thoroughly detailed, and cleverly thought. There was a lot of humour and sarcasm which I liked plenty.

“Kaz leaned back. "What's the easiest way to steal a man's wallet?"
"Knife to the throat?" asked Inej.
"Gun to the back?" said Jesper.
"Poison in his cup?" suggested Nina.
"You're all horrible," said Matthias."

My favourite character is Kaz Brekker.

I mean with this pic, it's easy to identify him as a cold,calculating,sarcastic,genius person who's always one step ahead of everyone.

Everyone knows Kaz is a monster but he's as broken and crippled as any of them. He might be scheming but his past wasn't kind to him, resulting in him losing all sort of loving feeling towards anyone. That's the reason I like him. And anyone else on the crew. It was a small and unlikely team, but carefully chosen for an impossible task it's the perfect one. With Nina's hearttrending skills and her leverage against Helvar, with Matthias's knowledge and loyalty, With Jesper's Fabrikator skills, with Wylan's determination and skills at sketching, Inej's skills at scaling unscalable walls, and of course Kaz with his terrible scheming mind.In the end, this was the ultimate dream team.

There were many plot twists and things here and there, but the betrayal of Van Eck surprised me the most. I am very eager to read the second book and the last to this series. ...more "
