Wow. I don’t even know where to start. It took me an entire day just to try and collect my thoughts on Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross. This book wasn’t five stars. It was six. It was everything. One of the most beautiful, devastating, soul-deep stories I’ve ever read.

I loved it so much I didn’t want to finish. I slowed down, I savored, I held onto every word because I knew once I turned the final page I’d never get to experience it for the first time again. That’s how much this story mattered.

At its heart, this is Matilda’s story, a young goddess with messenger magic, caught in a brutal world where gods kill each other for power. She carries more than letters between realms; she carries secrets, fear, and a fragile hope for something more. And then there’s Vincent, the boy who once dreamed of her on the darkest night of his life and grew into the hardened, irreverent lord of the river. When she literally tumbles into his life, it feels like fate is laughing, but also finally giving them a chance. Also, Bade is the protector you never knew you needed.

This book is about love, identity, and the terrifying act of being known. Rebecca Ross doesn’t just write romance—she writes longing, ache, and the quiet bravery of opening your heart even when the world is falling apart. And this moment, that still lingers in my chest: “He chose me first,” I replied. “He dreamt of me before I knew of him. His soul found mine before I even knew how to look for his.”

I cried for the last 50 pages. Not delicate, pretty tears—full-body, throat-aching, heart-shattering sobs. But I also smiled, I held my breath, and I felt everything in a way only the best books can make you feel. I also cried writing this.

Please read this book. I will not stop bugging you until you do.
