"I’m loving this book. If you have read and liked Isherwood and Auden, Spender was a friend of both, then you will enjoy this book. He wrote this in 1947, when he was in his early forties. Some thought it was too young to be writing an autobiography, but it obviously wasn’t. Totally engaging and a great portrait of the times. He wrote a new forward to the book in the 1990’s.
