ashley said: " 06/16:24: one of the best cliffhangers out there. like, “katniss there is no district twelve” dropped that bomb (literally…). i kept little notes while rereading because once again, deserves a proper yet mildly serious review from yours truly. the fi 06/16:24: one of the best cliffhangers out there. like, “katniss there is no district twelve” dropped that bomb (literally…). i kept little notes while rereading because once again, deserves a proper yet mildly serious review from yours truly. the first half (more than half really) is pregames, which is the part that is always my favorite. you really get to see peeta’s love for katniss shine. and katniss’ confused devotion to peeta. peeta showing her his paintings, peeta helping with katniss’ family book, peeta peeta peeta. one of my favorite small details is katniss describing peeta’s beautiful eyelashes. his iconic “if it weren’t for the baby” dropped that shocked the nation and changed lives. one thing i feel like is you get to see more of peeta’s personality (sarcastic, dry, but also incredibly sweet and thoughtful, charming, etc etc.) than you do in the movie. i love when it shines through, makes me love him even more. moving away from peeta which is incredibly hard to do, is that you get to see more descriptions in how bad things truly got in district 12 after the victory tour until the games started. the detail i forget is katniss running into the two from district 8, making their way to 13. foreshadowing. katniss breaking down in front of her mom and prim about having to go into the games again, which is a whole other thing when you remember she’s barely seventeen at this point. striking difference compared to the first time, since she knows and feels she won’t come out of this one. rereading, they spend a few pages detailing haymitch’s games. which makes me incredibly excited for the new book, because it’s genuinely really interesting. the picnic on the rooftop and everlark spending the whole day together is something so sweet. one of the most devastating moments is when katniss says goodbye to peeta at the end before everything goes to shit. knowing that’s the last time they see each other pre-mockingjay will and can bring me to tears. catching fire we love you forever. we love peeta. we love katniss. the end.

4/4/23: best cliffhanger is ever exist. another thing i thought about when rereading for the billionth time, i love peeta. i wish they let more of his personality shine through. my first true love.

probably the best sequel to a book ever in my own opinion. everything about it is amazing. i love peeta. i wanna cry. always. just Chills. i could write an essay. ...more "
