Her journey was something that is very easy to connect to.

Hannah was your typical high school freshmen. Once she settled in the next town and experienced her first day of high school she could easily sense the diversity. I think that in high school everyone is divided depending on their interests and Hannah talked about how obvious it was to see that. “Their looks only have a small part to play in deciding their place in social order of things. What they’re into is just as important as how they look.” This quote is really important in understanding who Hannah is. You can really tell that she has seen it all and she knows what she’s doing. For me, I probably wouldn’t be able to classify people as easy if I hadn’t moved around as much as she has. Also, you can really tell that all this diversity leads her into trying to find her place in this school.

One of the first people that takes the time to introduce himself to Hannah is Lukas. Lukas was that kid that was kind of an outcast but yet, he had a few friends on the side. “He’s about to walk away but stops. Turns to me and opens his mouth and starts to stutter like he’s not sure if he should say what he wants to. Then finally deciding to go ahead and say it, but refusing to take his eyes off the floor when he does. “It’s just . . . you’re kind of pretty . . . and she might try to turn you into one of them . . . one of her clones,” he says. “I don’t want to see that happen to you, that’s all.” During their first conversation, Hannah was a little hesitant because she wasn’t sure if she could fully trust him yet. I think that a lot of us are a little skeptical of who we meet at first and how much we can trust them. After all, how can you really trust someone you just met? From then on, Hannah was careful to not let it get to her head.

After her first encounter with the cheerleaders, Hannah realized that they might be out to get her. They would build her up and make her think that she had potential to become one of them and then just drop her like it was nothing. In the beginning, Lukas had tried to warn her but she didn't think he was being serious. When something good is offered to us in life, we obviously want to take it. But sometimes, people will interfere with that and try to change our minds. I think that Hannah viewed Lukas as sabotage and that he didn't want her to be happy. Once Hannah realized that he was right, she realized that he was actually the good one. The one who had stuck around the longest and that actually wanted to be her friend and that would always be there for her.

Overall, I think that this was a really good book because it really shows the true struggle to find meaningful friendships. Reading about Hannah’s journey was so fascinating and interesting to see what would happen. It’s definitely one of those things that so many people can relate and connect with. ...more "

"This book is really good! Now that I'm farther in the book, the characters have really developed and it's very entertaining to read about.
