"In the beginning I had intended to reread this book every August for a few years, and I did indeed read part of it last year, having read the whole book one year prior, and had intended to do the same this year also. James Joyce
“Shut your eyes and see.”
James Joyce

Hunter S. Thompson
“No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well...maybe chalk it up to forced consciousness expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten.”
Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream

James Joyce
“Think you're escaping and run into yourself. Longest way round is the shortest way home.”
James Joyce, Ulysses

Vladimir Nabokov
“Some people—and I am one of them—hate happy ends. We feel cheated. Harm is the norm. Doom should not jam. The avalanche stopping in its tracks a few feet above the cowering village behaves not only unnaturally but unethically.”
Vladimir Nabokov, Pnin

William Gaddis
“Justice? -You get justice in the next world, in this world you have the law.”
William Gaddis, A Frolic of His Own
