This book was very interesting. Not what I was expecting and not the type of book that I normally read but it was so realistic in the author’s words. It was a very good book and I would read any book that this author published.
In this story I found that the main character Katie and I have many things in common. We both love swimming both of us have brothers and best friends. Most people wouldn’t talk about the main character and what they have in common but, I’m not everyone else. Just like Katie.
When Katie goes to her new school Woodsdale, she finds many exciting new things to look forward to. New school, new friends, and new swim team. Her life has begun to change. At the beginning of the book it seems like she’s sort of depressed or not that talkative. So when she goes to a new school it’s like she’s been rearranged completely in her life.
All of that changes when she talking to her brother and she says "But I've been thinking that I should probably come out with you sometimes... I think I'm going to be stuck here, so I should probably make some friends”. It shows she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone.

When she begins to step out of her comfort zone she makes friends and is being invited to parties and group events. "Katie, you'll have to come to parties. You'll have to talk about swimming and boys and you'll have to... you know, TALK to people."

She begins to make friends and come out of her shell. It seems like it’s the best thing for her by going to the other school. So she goes on to the swim team practice and meets all the new people and finds who her coach is and who her teammates who eventually become her friends. This is a girl who loves swimming so much and swimming is all she does. What makes all this better for Katie is the fact that her friends/teammates share the same passion as her.

At this point in the book it seems like she loves her new school and she’s glad she has been transferred. I can tell this by when she says “Things loosen up after the first couple of months at school. Woodsdale Academy is a model of academic excellence.” This tells me she thinks this school has more excellence than her old school in San Francisco.

One thing you probably don’t know until now is Katie has a family yes but they really don’t act like a family or love one another like a family should. Katie was looking forward to coming home for Christmas break but she was not able to because her parents told her she couldn’t. After being around people who actually like her and are her friends she gets caught up in the fact that my world has changed and I’m sure my parents have changed too. After all she’s been away so her parents must have changed somehow. Wrong, unfortunately, nothing has changed everything stayed the same and it was only her who had changed. She changed for the better and everyone else or her family I guess I should say stayed the same as worse.

After going from a rich girl who loves to swim but is somewhat depressed, she goes to a school far away from home where everything changes for what she thinks is bad. She finds out months later that what she thinks is bad turns out to be one of the best things that ever happened to her. She finds friends, love and a good swim team where she can win and feel like a champion without being put down.

I think the point of the story or the lesson to be learned is where one place you can’t find love another place that may seem horrible give you more love and friends than you ever think you can have in your entire life. ...more "
