"The end of this book is a hard conversation about being a patriotic American, exercising democratic rights, and being persecuted by the institutions that you are a part of. The imagery of this book really helps drive these points home. It really made me think about what it will be like to live in Trump's America if he wins the next election, because this book was published in 2016, and really looks at immigration," — May 06, 2024 10:29AM

"This final chapter of the book was one of the most boring, yet most exciting. Tolkien's writing was as gripping as ever and brought the reader along for the fight between Frodo and Boromir, and the final leg of their boat journey. My favorite section was when Frodo was looking out over the world because you can tell something is wrong but you don't know what, and the creeping fear feels very real and scary." — Apr 22, 2024 10:26AM

"I'm getting a bit annoyed with this book because the timeline keeps jumping and it never punctates the jumps, so the reader is left completely lost. For example, Alex and his sister got on a helicopter headed for NY for the DNC (idk what that is) and then we cut from the helicopter to talking to a reporter, then IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH, they go to a hotel like a whole day later and the reader isn't given any warning." — Nov 06, 2023 03:11PM
