“Innovation cannot be imported from the outside, by “horizontal planning,” even if lessons can be learned from experiences elsewhere. Also, innovation will not be achieved by “vertical planning,” i.e., by using confessions or other theological frameworks as blueprints. On the other hand, to minimize control does not mean to create a theological and spiritual void, or to become incapable of articulating the Christian faith. Therefore, these communities must be well resourced in terms of theology, spirituality, and practices.”
