Ah yes. The "I'm undesirable because i put on some weight" trope all women love. Body insecurities exist sure but I feel things like this contribute to the continuation of them. I came here to read alien smut not be reminded "extra weight" isnt the beauty standard thanks. And I noticed the books later in the series have "curvy" characters. I would hope that they are written respectfully without the bodyshaming displayed in this book.
