Both character's voices say "on account" in place of "because". Writer should've made more of an effort to distance each character to help them shine as individuals. Two characters hundreds of years apart using the same vernacular makes for a distracting and annoying read... and the highlighted portion isn’t even Nella or Caroline! It’s just some guy Caroline talks to in the street! So everyone in the world speaks with the same vernacular do they?
