My mom always says this, that my body is not mine but hers so do get a scrape or to form a bruise is more upsetting to her and hurting her property. As a child this didn't make sense because "it's my body" but as an adult I understand the motherly thought of how she made and carried my body in hers for months and to see it harmed or hurt would be devastating.
