My mind is just in love with it. It expressed everything with just this way abt. The characters and their relationships where so amazing and their character development. I have nothing bad to say abt the book. I loved how we only saw what Richard remember and what he saw at the time. How their where so many hints abt what was happen but u either ignored it or didn’t piece it together because of him. Because he ignored it and didn’t want to believe it. This is a literary masterpiece and EVERYONE SHOULD READ. It explores how Richard romanticised the group at the beginning and was desperate to be like them as he came from no money and was very poor compared to these rich students but as time goes on we see that there’s much more to these characters that they have secrets and ugly truths that drive them to commit many acts of evil and use Richard for their own benefit. Towards the end of the book Richard comes to this realisation that they are not majestic higher beings but human beings, maybe some of the worst humans. But despite this epiphany, rich seems to gloss over it and tries to somehow justify how they acted and treated him. Henry used him for his own purpose and new that Richard was so desperate to fit in that he would do whatever he said, camellia strung him along and did not care for him more than a friend but she knew that Richard was transfixed by her. Despite him saying how he loved her, we know this isn’t true, she barely payed him any mind and he loved her for her features and the way she spoke not her mind, she was an idealisation that Richard had created inside his head. And their teacher, Julian Morrow, is not who we see at the beginning. Richard sees their teacher as a perfect man, someone above all others and somewhat a god to Richard. However, he is not this. He is narcissistic and a cold man who like Richard thinks too highly of himself. He picks and choices who he wants to be associated with and believes that he should not bother himself with others lesser than him, he sees himself as above everyone and their Greek and knows that he can do as he pleases due to his money and status. He is a key player in how the group fell apart and was driven to commit such terrible acts. This book shows how events and different people affect how one grows and changes, and Is the definition of don’t judge a book by the cover.
