When I started it, I read a few chapters and then put it down and kind of forgot about it. I came back to it every now and then while balancing college work at the same time but wasn't actually invested. yes, It had a very good storyline and the spice was spicing however I couldn't really get the image of the book in my head. That was until 4 days ago. I sat in the back of the car suddenly in love with the characters and everything in-between. it was that one bathroom scene with Krystal and kyran that really made me see the utter beauty in Nyla's writing. The one with kyran not being able to un see what him and Avi had done was written in the most perfect and beautiful ways I've read. (okay yes I haven't read many books but I fear that it may be hard to top this one.) That scene would be a cinematic masterpiece if it was made into a show/movie (I know that will never happen. So sad. but then again i'm seeing things about heated rivalry and it makes me wonder that there could be a maybe?) Since I was in the back of that car I really struggled to put it down. I read it on the sofa, I read more in car (lol), I read it wherever I could (without someone seeing what I was reading lol). I was at about the 50% point yesterday morning, and come 1:30 AM this morning, I had finished it and wanted more.
Kyran's story was heartbreaking and really gave light to some of the messed up shit that happens within the Catholic faith. The world building that this book provided was insane. all of the characters had information about them and it just heightened the reading experience by a million percent.
The fact that Kyran left the banquet before his BIGGEST football game to put on a prom for Avi so he could have his first dance did in fact make me ugly cry.
Oh... My... God... The spice in this book was UNREAL. The scenes were written so well and even thought there were so many, I still want more. Over the phone, in the shower, in the car... wow... just wow. When I was reading I noticed that when they first started to film things it was all centred around the camera being on but as it went along they seemed to start before actually recording which just expands the way they both fall for each other. The Love that they share is just so beautiful and written in a way that makes it feel kind of real.
The epilogues were an amazing way to bring this book to an end, especially with the lines: For the Fans For us
So yeah, 6 star book. need the novella she mentioned in the 'notes from the author'...more
