I liked the first book, I respected Poppy for actually cutting a bitch and actually living up to the baddie label the author is trying so hard to sell. Well it seems she used up all that energy after going homicidal Queen Casteel (I LOVED that scene) and had none left in the second book, victimizing herself and me as a reader, with all her dumb ass problems. Either be mad at Casteel and commit, or trample your selfrespect yourself for some good sex, I'll accept either but PLEASE pick a struggle...
This narrative has been BLED OUT throughout the entire book, if not from a plot point of view, from a writing perspective its so fucking repetitive. I can't listen to Poppy being a whiny bitch anymore. "I will NEVER accept him, he DOESN'T care about me and I DON'T care about him" only to have sex with him TWO SECONDS LATER. EVERY TIME
At this point this book has just become a self insert fantasy where I fantasize about smacking the shit out of every one of them and sending darling Kieran into much deserved retirement.
This entire book is just a travel vlog, Poppy and Casteel making everyone uncomfortable with their unresolved sexual tension (the smut isn't even good tho, I legitimately skip some scenes because it's so indescribably cringe) and Poppys newly developed backbone issues, or rather the lack thereof.
And GOOD GOD that scene where Casteel drinks from her and they dry hump while Kieran is RIGHT THERE trying to keep Poppy from being killed bro IT WAS SO BAD KIERAN BABE PLS RUN FROM THESE PEOPLE. This entire book reminds me of this meme

Last but not least of my grievances in this book are the cringe ass dialogues. Every time they speak it's just a circle jerk. Poppy just constantly fishing for validation and Casteel saying the most uncreative basic "woke" shit like, oh no you're just the victim of the sytem and Poppy being on some dumb shit going like, naur, I'm singlehandedly the problem for everything. Like calm down girl you're not that relevant. Everytime they have one of the most predictable prep talks, discussing whether or not they are the worst people alive, although they are both far to uninteresting to be anything more than dimples and honeydew, I just wanna strangle myself with the strap on my kindle.

To conclude, I'll need a hot minute to recover from that *having sex ON your employe while he's just trying to do his job* scene. Maybe I will finish the book and come back on here with some more opinions. Who knows. ...more "
