I was super excited to finally start Throne of Glass by SJM and I already knew I‘d love it. This was such a marvelous start into the series.

I was super excited to finally start Throne of Glass by SJM and I already knew I‘d love it. This was such a marvelous start into the series.

This high fantasy novel follows the assassin Calaena, who spent the last year as a slave in the salt mines of Endovier.
One day a huge opportunity was offered to her by none other than Prince Dorian and Captain Westfall. She must represent the prince in a tournament and will be fighting other thieves and assassins to be the King‘s Champion. After winning she‘d have to serve the king for four years. A few years of servitude in exchange for complete freedom. Celeana knows that she is the best of her kind, of course she will use this chance to be finally free.
But in the king‘s castle she soon realizes that things are not what it seems.

It didn‘t took me long to get into the world of ToG at all, I immediately fell in love with the story and couldn‘t stop reading. To be honest, in the beginning the characters seemed very stereotypical to me, but throughout the story you discover more of them and see how they are growing. The character development was amazing and I really started to love them.
Especially Celeana is a character I could relate to on so many levels and I think that‘s one of the main reasons why I felt such a connection to this book. Also a main character who loves to read? Yeah, we love that.

SJM creates such beautiful worlds with her books and I love her writing style. I think the action and the romance collided beautiful together and I also really appreciated the sense of humor in this story.
I didn‘t expected the twists at all and the ending was glorious, it leaves you with a lot of questions and the urge to immediately start reading the sequel. ...more "
