I really like this quote because I feel like this is still taboo to admit even to this day. Women are expected to miss their children when their children are away from them and are deemed selfish when they do not. They’re expected to love every aspect of motherhood which can feel suffocating. Social media sees women like this as “selfish” and express sympathy for these children when in reality, children should see their mothers embracing their identities that exist outside of parenthood.
