The moment James opened his mouth at the dock I knew exactly what he'd done and yet when he told Oliver I was still shocked. And I guess that's the genius of the book being in Oliver's POV. I knew but Oliver was naive enough, loved and trusted James enough, that I had no choice but to assume it was someone else. God.
I don't think I can express everything I want to say about James and Oliver and everything that they could have been, but needless to say I love them. The pining that is so so painfully obvious to literally everyone but them, James's hands being "sculpted by Michelangelo" (Oliver please the closet is glass), King Lear, the LETTER. Don't even get me started on the letter. I'm a hopeless romantic so obviously I wholeheartedly believe that James is waiting for Oliver to find him so they can live the life they only scratched the surface of....more
