The Wizard Heir is definitely teen orientated, but with the style the author writes in, it's not overly dramatic and soap-opera-ish. She doesn't drastically stereotype, which is nice.

Details about the book:

Setting:
The modern world, but one that is orientated around a guild lifestyle, especially in Britain. Basically, anyone below the Wizard guild is looked down upon and are treated as servants, if not slaves. The servant guilds include: sorcerers, seers, warriors, enchanters, and the Anaweir (nonmagical humans). However, the story takes place in the States and Canada, where the importance of social status between the guilds is not stressed; in fact, the existance of magic is harldy recognized.

Plot:
The story centers on a sixteen year old orphan boy, Seph. He doesn't know anything about his family, except that they left him a rather large sum of money, thus enabling him to attend private school all his life. The problem with Joseph is that he is a powerful wizard without training; his talent is erratically spiking out and causing trouble. Because of this, he has had to switch schools several times. Finally he lands in a small private school in Maine for problematic boys. There he finds that the headmaster can teach him to control his magic, but at a price. Dun, dun, dunnn.....

The plot also circles around the ongoing feud between the two ruling Wizard houses, the House of the Red Rose and the House of the White Rose, and a rogue council run by a mysterious person known as the Dragon. Dun, dun, dun, dunnn....

Anyways, this book is good enough that I would suggest it to others; the characters are pretty "hip" (for lack of a better word) and the plot keeps moving along. I wouldn't be surprised if it became a movie one day; it has the feeling of a movie like The Covenant, Pirates of the Caribbean, and CSI:Miami all rolled into one. =D ...more "
