"Reading about the imperial military organization. Gibbon condenses it into semi-essential information. I'm glad that he decided to not bog me down with and endless supply of facts and figures. He knows other authors have already supplied them, and if I really want to learn in more detail I can consult other sources of specific information. I do wish he would slow down about the emperors though." — Jan 08, 2013 09:24AM

"Love the Latin verbiage, makes me want to look up the words and for the parts I do know, I feel almost secret insights. Very gripping writing" — Dec 17, 2012 02:04PM
