If you just read and comprehend, this book is a cookie-cutter fantasy. Honestly, I’m convinced that it is straight plagiarism from Fourth Wing and ACOTAR. I mean Shadows? And Dragons? Come on…
I’m also confused about the world building; there isn’t any other than basic descriptions. We get a two-sentence description of the human world in the second book, but we don’t get told ANYTHING else about it. Are we still on the same planet? Are the realms located on different planets? Where is the map of the human world?
I don’t see how anyone likes the mc. She is a bitch. She blatantly hates any woman that isn’t old or a caretaker. Her disregard for Danya is completely unwarranted. So what Danya is apprehensive? This has been her home for hundreds of years and Saeris has been there for a couple of weeks and thinks she has a right to the people in it?
She demands to be called Queen of the Vampires but has no regard for what being Queen means. Pawns it off to Tal and expects him to just do her duties for her. The whole first book was about how poor of a queen Madra is and then she treats her people exactly like Madra.
Speaking of Madra and Belikon, where the f*** is the urgency to find them? Saeris was all for saving the humans in the last book and not once has she brought up saving the humans in this one. (Granted, I did not read the bonus chapters outside of Kingfisher in the maze because I didn’t pay $60 to have to find content online). But it definitely seems like now that she is fae/vampy she does not care about saving the humans at all?
The whole first book was also about needing to get home to her brother and she doesn’t mention any worry for him AT ALL. Carrion has to be the one to suggest they go rescue him? She doesn’t even care about him all of sudden?
Everyone has mentioned grammar issues, but holy mother of ellipses. So far, I’ve counted 481 ellipses in 439 pages. This author does NOT know how to use a comma to save her life.
Anyway, I’m convinced the people who are rating this 5 stars are just reading the spicy scenes and aren’t actually reading the plot (for which there is none in this book)....more
