i swear, with every book ann releases, the more i find myself holding my breath while reading. im so sorry to the people on instagram close friends with how much i spammed BUT ITS BETTER THAN ME HOLDING MY BREATH FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME OUT OF STRESS AND ANTICIPATION. girl, i was HOOKED from the start. mouth dropped in disbelief the entire time oh my god. sadie i feel you, if i were you, i would've wanted to 👊 julius in the face too. BUT then there were scenes that had me TAKING LAPS. THE SPORTS FESTIVAL???? THE KAYAKING!??!!? THE FINAL CONFESSION????????? there are so many other scenes i love BUT I CANT SPILL YALL HAVE TO READ IT <3

the initial overall trope is (academic) rivals to lovers, but when i tell you there's way more than just the romance. there were issues of needing to meet other people's or your own high asf expectations. there were past mistakes that needed to be resolved (in a sense) for characters to grow. lets not forget the people-pleaser issue "you're ready to put yourself last just to please other people" ann really decided to dig up all the trauma and issues i didnt know i had ty vv much for that <3 :DDD

one of the biggest things for me in ihtdfy though was sadie's backstory with her family. how she hates it when people get angry. how this affects her when confronted with some very pissed off individuals. idk if i can say more, but it really struck gold (spoilers i cried.) on another note, though, it was really cute to see how julius and sadie paired off well because of their respective personal backstories. if you want to understand that, *wink wink* you should preorder and read !!

my only wish though were more scenes of sadie bonding with the other girls. the senior trip was MWAH for many reasons, but it was the interactions that were really sweet. especially after explanations were made and issues were resolved. also, abigail?!?! i loved her sm we stan a supportive best friend 😤😤😤

and if all that doesn't somehow convince you to read ihtdfy, the love letter full of vulnerabilities and honesty should be enough because it was absolutely adorable "i really hope this finds you" KAJFNKSJFS you'll be missing out if you don't read this >:(
