I was hooked in the beginning but then Josh just kept having amazing luck which bothered me. He went from seemingly broke to getting a better job and suddenly making enough money for a new car, to pay for a new house and to buy an engagement ring all in a what seemed like a very short time. (Not to mention someone always being able/available to build a case around that WASNT Josh. Chet, a homeless man, the detective …. All by chance)
There’s a part in the beginning that also confused me. Lacy states she didn’t have a car (which is why I thought she was a bad driver) but toward the end of the book it mentions Lacy does have her own car. When did that happen?
I enjoy following up with the murders but his last murder coming back from Taco Bell seemed unlike him. His relationship with Lacy is starting to cloud his judgement.
The thing that really bothers me though is when Lacy shares her Instagram name neither Josh nor his internal dialogue Joshy picks up that Lacy could also very well be nervousnightshade. Joshy mentions several times Lacy is hiding something and Josh brushes it off but not once is Nervous Nellie and her liquid concoctions compared to Nervousnightshade and her poisoning. It seems like a detail Joshy would at least pick up on and question but did not.
And the ending?! So many questions! Was Lacy actually going out with a friend? Was she poisoning the truck driver? Why was Josh not even a little worried about the new detective coming in on the Gibson case?
Thanks for the read! Excited for number 2 to figure out what happens next!...more
