"I gave up. It's beautiful, and it won the Pulitzer for memoir for a reason. But it's an extremely dense graphic novel, so dense that some of the font is too small for me to see. It takes 15 mins to take in all that is on one page - with the art, the story, and the history. It's masterful and yet overwhelming. If I owned it, perhaps I'd keep on going, but I'd paid enough fines at the library, that I had to return it." Jul 27, 2025 10:46AM

Veera Hiranandani
“He misses the time he had with you. I miss the time I didn’t have.”
Veera Hiranandani, The Night Diary

Doris Kearns Goodwin
“One thing that a look backward over the vicissitudes of our country’s story suggests is that massive and sweeping change will come. And it can come swiftly. Whether or not it is healing and inclusive change depends on us. As ever, such change will generally percolate from the ground up, as in the days of the American Revolution, the antislavery movement, the progressive movement, the Civil Rights Movement, the women’s movement, the gay rights movement, the environmental movement. From the long view of my life, I see how history turns and veers. The end of our country has loomed many times before. America is not as fragile as it seems.
(Page 9)”
Doris Kearns Goodwin, An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s

Marie-Helene Bertino
“Human beings, Adina faxes, did not think their lives were challenging enough so they invented roller coasters. A roller coaster is a series of problems on a steel track. Upon encountering real problems, human beings compare their lives to riding a roller coaster, even though they invented roller coasters to be fun things to do on their days off.”
Marie-Helene Bertino, Beautyland
