Chris Travis
“Our Lord is a foot washer, not a controller.”
Chris Travis, InSignificant: Why You Matter in the Surprising Way God Is Changing the World

“Early-stage religion is largely preparing you for the immense gift of this burning, this inner experience of God, as though creating a proper stable into which the Christ can be born. Unfortunately, most people get so preoccupied with their stable, and whether their stable is better than your stable, or whether their stable is the only "one, holy, catholic, and apostolic" stable, that they never get to the birth of God in the soul. There is no indication in the text that Jesus demanded ideal stable conditions; in fact, you could say that the specific mentioning of his birth in a "manger" is making the exact opposite point. Animals at least had room for him, while there was "no room for him in the inn" where humans dwelled.”
Rohr - Falling Upward

Augustine of Hippo
“Let him love to find You while not finding it out, rather than, while finding it out, not to find You.”
St. Augustine of Hippo

“Word of Life, I love the everydayness of this gospel life, that honest speech is including in holy living. How necessary it is in this age of spin and hype, where falsehood spreads with viral intensity. Teach me to speak as Jesus lives, full of grace and truth. Guide all my words - spoke or written - by your love and the needs of others. In Christ's name, amen.”
Philip F. Reinders

Chris Travis
“If we saw things clearly, we'd be begging him to be in a relationship with us. Instead, he comes wooing, pursuing, serving. There is no other god who seeks like this, not in heaven or on earth, in truth or in fiction, not in our wildest dreams or imaginings. Only the God of the Bible stoops, whispers, touches gently.”
Chris Travis, InSignificant: Why You Matter in the Surprising Way God Is Changing the World
