"I finished novella 5. Started 6. Read a chapter and said this makes no sense.

They published a whole full size novel in between 5 and 6???

WHY WOULD YOU NOT SAY ANYTHING IN THIS BOOK???
What a weird choice."

"DNF
I thought this was a murder mystery set in an unusual location. It is instead at this point more of a treatise on Papal intrigues in the 14th century as sects vie for power and heresies abound.

The language is heavily liturgical and ecclesiastical (full of churchy terms)and only partially translated - originally in Italian, thé Latin sentences are not translated."

J.R.R. Tolkien
“Kings built tombs more splendid than the houses of the living and counted the names of their descent dearer than the names of their sons. Childless lords sat in aged halls musing on heraldry or in high cold towers asking questions of the stars. And so the kingdom of Gondor sank into ruin, the line of kings failed, the white tree withered and the rule of Gondor was given over to lesser men. ”
J. Tolkien

Cormac McCarthy
“Men do not turn from God so easily. Not so easily. Deep in each man is the knowledge that something knows of his existence. Something knows, and cannot e fled nor hid from. To imagine otherwise is to imagine the unspeakable. It was never that this man ceased to believe in God. No. It was rather that he came to believe terrible things of him.”
Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing
