Another book that has been collecting dust on my shelf for over a year. Finally picked The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Book 1 of 3
4.5

Another book that has been collecting dust on my shelf for over a year. Finally picked this one up and I did go into it knowing there is not a ton of romance. Views on this book are very split on booksta on either loving or hating this series. So here is my *spoiler* review.

First off I was immediately invested because I knew this book was about the fae but homegirl started off on her couch munching on some chips? So I was like okay this is giving peter pan we're about to fly to neverland (fae land) and jokes on me because they actually did fly. So the mortal world is literally just your basic average every day what we have normal life and then a fae claiming to be moms ex lover comes in and kills some people and steals the kids to fae land. And yes this was all done in the prologue so you can see the investment I had.

Another thing I knew going into this series is who the MC are. Jude and Cardan. Let me just tell you how frikkin annoyed I was with Cardan like this mf was pissing me offfff. Then there is a ᵗⁱⁿʸ but of romance with Locke and im like okay this is cute, im gonna get Tamlined but its whatever enjoy the moment. Flash forward to Jude being a crazy raging spy who just wants to fit in. She then sees some stuff about Cardan that is def making me understand why I hate him, hence the morally gray men.

Flash forward to, I in fact did get Tamlined by Locke and I was ready to throw hands. With him and her trifling hoe ass sister. Honestly think I was more mad about that then I was about Cardan. At this point he has really not been in the story much nut then shit hits the fan at a coronation and I'm like wtf is going on. I honestly love fantasy court politics, the messier the better, so spill that tea sis.

Lots of scheming and plans later and I know the book is coming to a close. I know the plan, im following along thinking okay this is where book 2 is going to pick up with Oak and were gonna go through that. WRONG. This bitch Jude PUT THAT CROWN ON CARDAN. Yall I was 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 while thinking wow what a boss move and wow he is gonna be so mad at u. Honestly I am still reeling from that ending and I just, I understand this series and I'm only on book 1.

So for those who love this series, I GET IT. For those who do not love this series, I also get it. ...more "
