This is the second time I've read this collection, but the gap was almost 40 years apart - so there were little things I had forgotten, and some stories that I remembered almost word for word. The short story "Night Surf", about an apocalyptic virus (A6) nicknamed "Captain Trips" (never did figure out where that nickname came from in the story) was eerily familiar to early COVID prior to a vaccine. Think NYC, then nationwide: high deaths with those in nursing homes, heart disease, asthma/COPD, autoimmune disorders - they ran out of body bags, seriously impacted the economy, and brought out the worst in some people - just like the setting and characters in "Night Surf". Worse, since it is not yet known what impact "long COVID" will have, possible it may have been somewhat prophetic down the line.
