Rating: 4.75/5

Breakdown:
1. Plot and Storytelling: 5/5 The plot of this book is fantastic! It took me a couple of chapters to really get into it, but once I did, the 600+ pages just flew by. The story is captivating, well-planned, and a great read.
2. Characterization: 4.5/5 The characters are dynamic—they’ll make you laugh, frustrate you, and make you fall in love with them. They grow and change throughout the book. I knocked off half a point because of a twist I wasn’t thrilled with and a few moments where the MMC got on my nerves.
3. Writing Style: 5/5 I loved Callie Hart’s writing style—it’s both descriptive and fun. She wrote fantastic banter, the action scenes were engaging, and the spicy scenes were enjoyable.
4. Originality: 5/5 This book felt refreshingly original to me. The beginning might remind you a bit of Aladdin or even The Hunger Games, but it quickly becomes its own unique story.
5. Emotional Impact and Resolution: 4/5 The emotional impact was strong; I went through a range of feelings from amusement to frustration, fear, hope, and love. I did take off a point because the very ending didn’t go the way I wanted, but with how the rest of the book went, I’m definitely eager to see where it’s heading next.
6. Spice: 4/5 The spice level was great—well-written and descriptive. I took off a point because a few scenes felt like they were missing something.

Review 2 (audiobook):
4.75/5
I just finished my second read of Quicksilver, this time as an audiobook, and I loved it just as much as the first time. The pacing is medium, perfectly balancing action and romance. The FMC and MMC are both strong and complex characters who grow beautifully throughout the story. The unique magic system, based on alchemy and sentient Quicksilver, adds a fresh and intriguing layer to the fantasy world.
What really stood out to me was the found family dynamic, which felt genuine and deeply enriching to the story. The audiobook narration was excellent, bringing the characters to life in a way that made me want to listen again. I’m eagerly awaiting book two!
If you enjoy fantasy romance with strong characters, a unique magical world, and a heartfelt found family theme, Quicksilver is a must-read. ...more "
