there’s nothing i appreciate more in any media than an author who isn’t afraid to speak the truth, point fingers and name names regardless of whose entitlement it may offend. activism and revolution cannot involve pandering to the very person holding the leash.
i know that i am the white man in question, i’m not trembling at the thought of kuang’s assessment of the western man, i know why and where this comes from. i do not do enough, and being openly called out like kuang does in this book is exactly what rips someone like me out of that bubble. it’s a bullshit shame that hands need to be held to get there in the first place. but catering to my precious entitled worldview is not new, and it doesn’t do anything but validate my passivity in the face of grave humanitarian violations
