If you're interested in joining (even if only for one month) please message Bri for the details and be sure to read the group rules below! Let's be literate together 😎 ---------------------- Q&A: 1. How will we choose books each month?: I'll randomly pull one member's name every month. That person will then choose 3 books they want to read for the next month. The other members will vote on which book they want to read most (through Discord, LINE, or Goodreads) and the top book will be chosen for next month's read. 2. What books can I select?: Any book is okay, so long as it's not something that would cause harm to other members or is intentionally inflammatory in nature. Basically, just use common sense and select books you are actually interested in reading. 3. How will we talk about each month's book?: I'll add some chapter discussion posts (every 5 chapters or so) for each book here. If you want to post your thoughts while reading, feel free! It's not a requirement though. Ideally, I'd like as many people as possible to meet at a cafe or something at the end of each month to talk about the book for that month. Again, this is not a requirement - just a fun way to promote discussion. 4. What if I don't want to read this month's book?: You don't have to! Feel free to skip months you aren't interested in and join in again later. 5. How can I get this month's book?: If you want a physical copy, the BAL building near Kyoto Shijo has a bookstore with a fairly large selection of English books. Amazon also has a good amount; however, these will all cost more than you are probably used to due to import fees. Another option is to use an e-reader or e-reader app to buy digital books at a much lower cost. You could also see if your hometown offers a digital library - this way you can rent e-books for free even from Japan. ...more
