i am pleasantly surprised by this book, usually u find the third book in trilogies to be half assed and the weakest one (from my experience), but the burning god did this trilogy justice to say the least. i would say what a tragic end to this trilogy.

i am pleasantly surprised by this book, usually u find the third book in trilogies to be half assed and the weakest one (from my experience), but the burning god did this trilogy justice to say the least. i would say its probs my second favourite after the dragon republic. even though the ending to this wasn’t happy i think it was much needed and in line with the plot. as much as i love rin i don’t think she would have ever got a happy ending with the way she is anyway :,)

ANYWAY ENOUGH OF THE DEPRESSING SHIT i absolutely love love love rebeccas writing and she did not fail to come through with it once again, her attention to detail is just like nothing i’ve seen before, her concept of shamanism and god like entities is portrayed soooooo well. she made it sound very realistic and its so hard to find a well done magic system in fantasy!!!! so props to her for that >:) i loved all the battle scenes so much, her descriptions make it a lot easier to visualise and a lot of the time i’m not forcing my mind to see a picture of whats happening in each scene, which is rare coming from me as somebody who struggles with visualisation.

of course all of her characters i fell in love with. i love almost every one of them and they all deserve the world <3 ofc seeing jiang make his return in this book made me so happy with him being my second fave next to kitay.
i feel like r.f kuang wrapped it up really well with the characters, showing things like parallels between the trifecta and rin, nezha & kitay (i found that so cool btw)
and also altan living inside rent free in rin’s mind for the whole duration of the book and putting his two penneth in every now and then, i found that an interesting concept too.
i wont even get started on rin and kitay because we will be here all day if i did😭but to put it simply they own my heart always<3 and i was sobbing over them.
surprisingly i really came to like daji in this book, i think showing scenes from her past was an important detail in this book, but i appreciate how she is still left very much so a mystery along with the rest of the trifecta. but i think she gave rin a good few pieces of advice tbh, with her and rin both being antiheros they deffo acted as the girlboss duo we needed in this trilogy

i sobbed multiple times in this book. i definitely have a soft spot for all these characters no matter the atrocities they have commited😭

in conclusion this trilogy is my favourite so far and i wanna make an effort to reread atleast once a year because i cant help but revisit this world and these characters :)) ...more "
