Logotherapy pushes patients to consciously discover their life’s purpose in order to confront their neuroses.
This section reminds me of the old story, or maybe it’s an adage, where it’s better to teach a man how to fish for themselves rather than find a fisherman/a kind person to get the fish for them. Similarly, it reminds me of the saying that “you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to save themselves.”
Someone who does not know what they want in life, who has yet to formulate their morals and ideals, someone who has yet to find their purpose in life, cannot be rushed. Everyone goes through life art their own pace. Everyone finds their own desires and ikigai. It’s not something that we can enforce on others, convince others towards, or force.
