My book club recommended this because they said it was a page turner. I am not gonna lie, when I first started reading this book, it wa I was really excited to read this book. I am not gonna lie, when I first started reading this book, it was not grabbing me. It took my about 10 chapters before I could not put it down. But once I was in, I was in. This book was so good I went and bought the audibke to listen to it because I didn’t feel like I appreciated it enough.
Czar is the type of man that is a flat out menace but when LB comes into the picture she turns his world upside down. There relationship is really precious. I love Marley and her sister’s relationship. I adore the family connection and game night that Czar has with his family. LB was changing the game with becoming part of Czar’s family group. He literally created a family business and created a village and I love that. I love that Marley had a life outside of Czar. Czar catered to his relationship and that was beautiful to see. I was a little shocked with the whole Benny situation and I have never been so mad and wanting to fight a character the way I did in these chapters. But this story really walks us through trauma, grief, hurt, pain, family, village and love!

Now the author asks a very specific question in this book and asks us to answer in our reviews:
What would you do? If you thought the love of your life died and right when you moved on, he reappears. Would you leave your new lover for the old one?

I would run because WHYTF you back from the dead. I would talk to my man to see if he cool wth me addressing my past. The past might get popped because why you put me through all that grief? But I would talk and get what I need done, but I ain’t leaving my new man, especially if he do to me what Czar did to Marley. In my younger days, like pre-30, when I didn’t have no frontal lobe, then I might be dumb and try to get that old thang back, but after 30, naw honey, especially if he loving me the way Czar love Marley. If I am living the life I want and I am happy, yeahhhhhh it’s giving, I am with my new man in the present. RIP to the old thang. You shouldn’t have let me think you was dead. Yo bad. ...more "
