As much as I love this trilogy, the ending always leaves me feeling a little bit strange, as it feels (to me) like it undid a bit of what the previous two books were starting to build. (view spoiler) However, I understand why this book ended the way it did. It was probably the right ending for this story, especially since it leaves so much potential for Meyer to return to Gatlon City and see where our favorite characters are in the future.

However, it’s not wholly satisfying to me, though the epilogue almost perfectly sums up how I feel. (view spoiler)

Anyway, I adore Nova and Adrian as characters. I love his unwavering faith in her, (view spoiler) the way that Nova goes against what is expected of her, choosing to do what she believes is right, and the clear love and respect that they have for one another. Oscar and Ruby continue to be absolutely adorable! (view spoiler) I also love Max! At only ten years old, he’s done and been through so much!

Over the course of this series, the origin stories of so many of the characters broke my heart, (view spoiler) and the trauma that they suffered made me truly feel for them, “heroes” and “villains” alike.
