She prayed to a God, or Devil and made a deal she herself didn't fully understand. One thing that Schwab did a great job at was writing this book with a nonlinear timeline, the back and fourth between years was a fun detail I enjoyed very much. Now Luc I think was an interesting character, the way he altered his apperence for Addie is a great piece to add to their relationship. Luc has many lines through out the book that really hit me hard, Page 150 "But even rocks wear away to nothing" and he doesn't just use it once but a couple more times through out which I enjoyed. Henry Strauss is a character we can all relate to in some way, either through the deal he has made with Luc or through his depression. To be seen, loved and enough for everyone is something a lot of people want. But once we see it from Henry's POV, it makes you not want it anymore, it doesn't seem real, its all artificial. I see lot of talk about how Addie is a boring main character and she has no personality, WHERE ?? Before her deal she would fill journels with drawings, she loves art, wants to make an impression and give insperation to artist. Once she makes her deal she can't physically leave a mark anywhere she can't draw any more, write stories, it literally disappears as its written. BUT she can and has been a muse for artits, learns how to leave a mark in a different way. This books ending was something I wasn't excpecting, it isn't a happy one or a sad one, which for the overall theme of this book i think the ending is fitting. Any other ending would have definetly gotten a lower rating for this book....more
