“What is the meaning of life?” Joseph was often asked, and he would respond, “There is no meaning. We bring meaning to it.” Like Carl Jung, he saw the approach of old age, not as a mere diminution of life, but as a time of blooming. If we have filled up the beaker of life and allowed to catch fire everything that needs to be consumed, then the quiet of old age is welcome. If too much life remains unlived, we approach the threshold of old age with unsatisfied demands that turn our glances backward. As Jung said, “An old man who cannot bid farewell to life appears as feeble and sickly as a young man who is unable to embrace it.”

“Some people say cats don't need a name. ...... But I say you need to give a cat a name, if only so they can have the pleasure of ignoring it. If that makes sense."

“Do you think death is the end of everything, Marie-Anne?” “I hope so,” whispered Marieanne.
“Here on the Brittany coast we believe something different. Death is not something that is coming, but rather something that is all around us. Here.” Clara pointed at the air. “There.” She gestured toward the trees. Then she bent forward and took a little white sand in her hands. “Death is like this.” She let the sand trickle from her left hand into her right. “One life goes in and takes a break in death.” Now she let the sand run out of her right hand onto the ground. “Another life comes out. It makes a journey, oui? Like flowing water. Water in a moulin. In a mill. Death is that short break.”

“The Art of Talking to Strangers
Here are two things we apparently need to stop doing when strangers bend down over your stroller to look at how cute you are:
1. Me sneaking up behind the stroller, hissing, "Say hello to my little FRIEND!"
2. Me sneaking up behind the stroller, hissing, "Dance, puppets, Daaance!"
So. Yeah. This feedback is mostly for me.
You just carry on.”
