i knew i was going to devour the banter between blythe and aris cause their dynamic h my goddd, this book actually ended me and i fear there's no way back now bc what do you mean i finished this book hours ago and my chest still physically aches??? 😭

i knew i was going to devour the banter between blythe and aris cause their dynamic has always been pure CHEF'S KISS material but what i didn't expect was just how beautifully their romance would bloom here
the tension, the yearning, the gradual unraveling of hatred into understanding and then into something so devastatingly pure AAAAAH by the end of the book i was in absolute shambles 🥹 and then there's the bittersweet emptiness it left me with that i'm somehow still trying to put it into words

ngl the book was a MASTERCLASS in enemies to lovers and no, not the rushed "they insult each other twice and now they're soulmates blabla" kind, nope... their relationship was built over two books and watching the author slowly transform their resentment into trust and tenderness to genuine love had me staring at the pages in awe, not even kidding

and aris… oh, aris 🥹 i didn't expect him to grow on me the way he did but there's something so tragic and sincere about the way he loves that completely wrecked me, like, i dare say you rarely come across characters who yearn the way he does
the fact that he spent centuries aching for his lost wife and never stopped loving her... that kind of devotion altered my brain chemistry for real

the memory recovery plotline was also handled sooo beautifully, i loved that blythe didn't suddenly become a different person once she regained the memories of her past life
she remained herself, she kept her personality and her feelings and her heart, and the fact that she and aris fell in love all over again before the truth about her identity came out made it hit even harder for me

now for the the ending... EXCUSE ME??? gotta admit i had partially guessed what happened in lillian's garden but the reveal with percy still shocked me to my core and looking back now, the hints were absolutely there but i'm honestly glad i didn't fully piece it together cause the sheer horror and realization hitting me all at once was priceless (not so much in the moment but istg my reaction was actually ridiculous 😂😂)

ohh and while i keep seeing people complain about plot holes and unanswered questions, i personally find it charming that some things were left open to interpretation... the mystery surrounding rima, her relationship with solanine and how their dynamic shaped signa and blythe's fates only made the story linger in my mind longer cause i love books that leave you theorizing after the final page instead of spelling out every single detail 🤭

now excuse me while i desperately run toward HOLLY caaause after the emotional destruction this book caused me, I BADLY NEED the fluffy cozy comfort of the squad being together again ...more "
