"On tyranny, Lesson 9: Be Kind to Our Language, Snyder says that we need to develop mental armor when filtering through media. He uses the examples of 1984 by Orwell and Fahrenheit 451 to discuss how these fictional tyrannical governments banned books and instead made television screens the primary source of information. To resist the potential for tyranny, Snyder suggests we surround ourselves with books." — Apr 11, 2025 07:24AM
