Most of this saga is sold as a YA found-family with romance but Releasing 10 is most definitely 18+. I understand why most people felt that this book was a "heavy trauma dump" but I think that you need to comprehend that Lizzie had a mental illness. It's mental. Of course it's in every part of her life, that's mental illness 101. I do not believe this book has "plot holes" per se, there are just inconsistencies in Lizzie's memory in consequence of her illness. This book couldn't have been written better because there is not a way to tell a survivor how to tell their story. THIS IS CHLOES STORY. You do not have the right to tell her this is "sick" or "weird". It's her life. Her choice. If you don't feel you are ready to read this book, don't. It isn't that hard. This is my review for now and if I remember anything else I will probably add it later on.

Edit:
I have SO much to say about this book because I keep seeing people complaining.
1. The characters in general aren't written differently/badly, it just shows how much each characters experiences have changed them and how much we still don't know about them.
2. If you've read this book and still believe Lizzies actions aren't justified you are not the target demographic for this saga in general.
3. If you hate on Lizzie [or any of the characters for that matter] then you're really not getting Chloe Walshs message. They are heavily traumatized TEENAGE kids, of course they act irrationally.
4. Going back to the second point, the fact that Lizzies actions have a justification does not mean it has one for the characters. You can believe she had her reasons/was not aware she was acting that way/was using a coping mechanism and still agree that most of her actions are not forgivable.

Lastly, this is a quote from Chloe Walsh to the backlash on R10: "This whole saga was meant to be anti-bullying and it just feels like I have created a monster". Chloe Walsh has not created a monster, the social media fandom that promotes this series as cute love story, the same fandom with adults thirsting over characters that are MINORS, the same fandom that hates on survivors and compares characters trauma; THAT is the real problem here, NOT the author. ...more "
