The author doesn't shy away to portray both characters as being either weirdo or with social flaws, and it works greatly. They have flaws, but they aren't unlovable. I really enjoyed when the book started to get into their relationship, showing Kiyoi as an annoying kid who pretended that he didn't see Hira's bullying because it wasn't interesting to him, but then he shows a certain kinda of pity that I wouldn't expect of a character like this. Hira too, I loved how the author didn't hesitate to portray him as doing stuff such as stalking and showing how Kiyoi saw him as gross. And then we get Kiyoi's POV and oh BOY, I loved it so much. To show how Kiyoi was dirty, not as much as Hira, but also kinda of warped because of his desire to be seen. And how it became mutual love in a weird way. The slow burn was really worth of it at the end. I CANNOT wait for the next book....more
