nesta hardly does any healing throughout the entire novel and is literally only nice to feyre at the end because she is going to die. she never truly gets over the whole fucking-anyone-and-everything thing, as her romance with cassian lacks any real feelings and is really only defined by sexual activity, which i found to be really disappointing since they both deserve better.

rhys and cassian are two of the most powerful people in the night court, yet cannot do anything to change the way that the illyrians treat women and children. how does that make any sense?? and how come the only option for any semblance of freedom for illyrian women in this story is fighting?????? they can’t do anything other than fighting (but only sometimes) and housework💀.. and you expect me to believe they couldn’t change that lmao…

the same goes for CON. what even goes on there? once again, rhys is the most powerful high lord AND CAN’T DO ANYTHING TO CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOUR??? like it is literally his court why can’t he ever do anything that actually matters jesus! he’d leave them all for dead because of mor but you expect me to believe that every single person who lives there is evil? obviously that would not be the case🙄

and the blatant (seemingly) anti-abortion plot line?!?!?! literally what was going through maas’ head when she wrote that?! rhys is always written to be some feminist saint of a man (🙄🙄🙄) yet withholds feyre’s right to autonomy and choice because he doesn’t want her to be SAD????? and then has the absolute audacity to get mad at nesta for telling her????? absolute insanity.

this book (and the series) is full of plot lines that need to be addressed with an understanding of the intricacies of the issues at hand. maas tries to weave in themes of segregation, sexual abuse, misogyny, and abortion laws, but has consistently come up short in her explanations and often dismisses the problems with half-baked reasoning. ...more "
