"Ch 18. The opening chapters nearly put me off, initial tone felt very YA in an unappealing way with irrelevant side characters chatting about badgers. Lots of tell don’t show for the Briar/Seb friendship backstory. Main cast was introduced in a way that made many forgettable. "seriously… Elend is more powerful than Vin?? why??? and he’s still calling Vin paranoid while also acknowledging that she’s usually right, why does he have to use that word?
