When we finished burning the 390 [others], we burned each of our relatives and acquaintances alone. Then we collected the ashes of each one of them, put them in boxes, wrote down the name and birth date of the deceased, and the date of his murder. Then we buried the boxes and said kaddish over them. We asked ourselves, “Who is going to say kaddish over us?”
