Many say this book was UNNECESSARILY graphic, especially in the SA scenes, making this a traumatizing read.

Calling it “unnecessary” tells survivors, “Your truth is too much for me.”

This book broke me into 100,000 little pieces, and I cannot wait for the next one to build me back up. I don’t think I've hated a fictional character as much as I hated Mark. I will not lie—I was a certified Liz hater until this book. Now, I am officially a Liz defender.

ALSO, I WILL HEAR NOTHING ABOUT HER CHEATING. THAT WAS SA. She was going through something completely out of her hands and out of everyone's understanding, including Hugh. Her desire for sex was not only driven by her hypersexuality but also her normal. She was used to Mark; she was used to feeling punishment in the form of sex, which is why she kept going back to Pierce even after saying whatever happened with him was a mistake.

The Gibs situation. I understand why she hates him, and in all honesty, I would low-key have a grudge as well. In her mind, her sister died for him. She wanted that justice for her, and she felt like Gibs could help her. The problem is that it was a rather hypocritical thing to think. She wanted him to speak his trauma publicly when she couldn't even do it privately. This is a sad case of two kids who were failed and neglected by their families, their government, and their superiors. Gibsie and Lizzie deserve justice, and I hope that is granted in the next books. Can't wait.
