Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu) is a danmei novel with the same author as another book I've read before, and that is a really nice surprise. The story follows Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu) is a danmei novel with the same author as another book I've read before, and that is a really nice surprise. It has a unique combination of elements such as fantasy, action, and romance. The story follows Xie Lian, a former Crown Prince and martial god, as he returns to the heavenly realm after his third ascension to which the other gods thinks of it as a fuss (considering how his ascension displaced several buldings + a bell). During his journey, he encounters Hua Cheng, a mysterious ghost king who becomes his devoted ally who waited 800 years for Xie Lian (how very sweet of him).
I like its China-inspired world because it's a good refresh from the usual old English books that I read and how complex the characters are written. My favorite part was when Xie Lian was trying so hard to proof that Hua Cheng (disguised as San Lang) was actually a ghost, which he fails mostly because Hua Cheng is too good. While some people may find the detailed plot (or maybe it's just me) and remembering character names challenging, but I just really adore the characters, specifically Feng Xin because he’s Feng Xin. And I like how Hua Cheng is so.. "I'm always sincere with you, Your Highness. If you don't believe me, I'll prove it to you.". But overall, Heaven Official's Blessing really appeals to me because of the storyline as a whole and the relationship of the characters....more
