We have average women imagining they have “fans” who wait with bated breath to see what they are thinking, eating, wearing, and doing. This strange insulation from reality is, yes, one of the great uses of the internet.
Social media can create a distorted reality. It is an alternate reality that is not real. It can be easy for social media to put fake ideas into our heads to make us feel a certain way. It also makes us subconsciously create an alternative character or personality, possibly separate from the true reality. Too much of a “good thing” can turn bad.
