WLFL was refreshing, generally well balanced, and had a lovable lead couple. jas and ivan will be on my mind for a few weeks LOL. (i’ve already started rereading some of my favorite scenes this morning.)

i have minor complaints though: (1) the pacing could’ve been better, i found it to be inconsistent and lacking when needed. to me, it was odd to already be at certain parts of the story and other times, i felt that zapata was lingering on a certain part a bit too long to be necessary for context. but i was enjoying jas and ivan’s interactions so much and the story overall, that it was almost tolerable to deal with. (2) being reminded of how blue ivan’s eyes were every 10 pages or less was annoying and unnecessary. i get that’s his main “thing,” and eyes are our biggest communicators, which is fine, but i don’t need to know his eyes are blue. i actually find it impossible to not know his eyes are blue when it keeps being brought up. enough. i don’t see this phenomenon with mmcs who have brown eyes (what a coincidence), that i ironically would rather be reminded of because they don’t get much appreciation. (3) i understand that jas is friends with ivan’s younger sister, hence the age gap, but did jas and ivan have to meet when they were 16 and 20. i don’t know, something feels morally dubious about that, but i guess i’m thankful that ivan never showed romantic interest in her from the point of them meeting, or else i would’ve been incredibly turned off from reading about them even in the current tense. i’m sure this isn’t an universal thought but something that bothered me a bit, if age gap and meeting each other as younger selves was needed or wanted, 18 and 20 would’ve been just fine and still retained the plot. but i digress ...more "
